back on track

my my. maths today was the most fun maths paper i've sat for since i entered JC, because for the first time, i manage to get back the hang of doing mathematical problems. i'd say today was a yay paper. not that i would get an A. that would be an astronomical leap from what i've been getting for maths this year. i still remember the tutorial which i never did, the probablity tutorial, it's still on that piece of brown wrapping paper. As in, i copied the tutorial on a piece of brown wrapping paper in a myriad of Zigg marker colours (thanks adz for the Zigg markers!). Mr Tay was actually shocked when he saw how colourful my tutorial was. Not that anything i copied down means i understood them. It was just copying for the sake of copying (yeah, you've probably done the same too!). That proves to be my own undoing coz today, i really didn't like the probablity, PnC, and all the funny stats questions. aye... on a lighter note, (i heard this on the train home today) if David is the son of Jane, then Jane is the _________ of David's mother? name! on another lighter note, i think it's weird to do literal translation. E.g: matin: Chongs... How was maths paper today? cl: Ugh... U know, maths is so not my cup of tea... adz: Ugh... so bukan aku punya cawan teh... On a heavier note, prelims is in 10 weeks time. God says if you fail to plan, then you're planning to fail.

suck physics suck

physics suck no way am i going to do better than what i got for my previous common test. i know why. coz all the time during season, when we had matches on monday, we skip like physics prac and tutorials. that means we only had physics lecture to learn from, which we sometimes missed too coz of thursday matches. erp. physics suck. God says GGXX! (oh no... maybe God is a manjen..! eeeeps)

ma me mo

mamle mamle mamle mo... ma me mo ahoy. NS Med Check Up takes a really long time. i wonder why they test us on IQ puzzles after the whole check up is done. to filter out the clever from the cleverer? hmmm. but each will have his role i'm sure. i was just thankful that i didn't have to take the blood test. because from past experience, it is very painful. they just took a small prick to confirm my blood is Aplus. 'A' seems like a very good letter this week (it's common test week some more!) coz after the doctor saw my dick and all (customary for this check up, don't worry, you'll get yours looked at too!) he gave me a PES A. eh, no more slacking in NS eh? we'll see. and the worst part was to sit down and shade the OTAS form about national education. of all things. eeee it isn't very fun. the IQ test was quite fun, i could answer all the questions within the stipulated time. but there wasn't the puzzle that chang wen got to do, the one about memorise a sequence of numbers. all in all, it was half a day gone and thus i think my physics will suffer. i have absolutely no confidence in physics at all. this is so bad. this is just alevel physics, what more s paper physics? sounds like i'm in desperate need of help. God says God will help others who help themselves. Tata.

impenjarament was like an impenjarament to me. i felt sufffocated at the start, coz i was trying very hard to understand what was going on (maybe i should go into prison to know what's up in there? NO! Crazy...). and the characters were kinda too large (not just physically), as in you see a lot of them yet you still don't know what they actually want. i couldn't find a real plot in the play. just some story-telling here and there. what was most impressive must be the set, never have i seen one like that before. the only drawback with the set was that the metal plates serving as "cement flooring" were too noisy when the actors stomped on them. i expected too much i suppose, silly. now back to reality. COMMON TESTS BEGIN TOMORROW. BIO FIRST. INSYALLAH lah eh mana tahu this time boleh buat betul-betul pasal dah belajar maybe dapat results baik eh... Doa-doakan lah aje eh... ok selamat to all. maaf zahir batin.

the prelude

I am watching Impenjarament this sat evening. Yay... I think it's the perfect prelude to common tests. With sheesha, then it'll be perfect. Ayye, maybe sheesha can wait. In about one week's time, I will be taking common tests as well as going for the NS medical check up. After quite a number of my close friends who went for it, it seems like there's already a pattern emerging for this medical check-up. Not that i want to speculate too much, but it seems that my manjen friends got PES A (physical exercise status A) while my mat friends who are equally if not fitter than them, only managed a PES B. What does it take to get PES A man? Is it no "bin"s in your name? Gosh, why am I so racist? I better control myself. This entry is meant to be taken light heartedly, of course. Please don't sue me.

Hello taggers! Ther: Oh my u should have come! Evonne saw it and i think she enjoyed it. And thanks ther! Z:I still dunno who u are. Naughty fella. Dwidarma is called dwidarma because firstly, we put up 2 plays, and dwidarma is intended to tell people that there are 2 plays (dwidrama). And also, it means dual responsibilities, because both plays involve characters having to deal with dual responsibilities, like the Pegawai's responsibility towards his community and then towards his family. In Mayat, the responsibility is between doing the right thing and saving oneself from the mess. So i hope Dwidarma makes you happy... so?: thanks so much for coming yesterday! hope you had fun... :) Thanks so much to all the cast and supporting crew for making Dwidarma a success. Though it wasn't a sellout, nevertheless, I think everyone who came saw and learnt something. Do I hear encore?

DWIDARMA is coming to town!

Everyone who happens to be reading this, it's not too late to purchase a DWIDARMA ticket. Just make sure that you set your alarm at 6pm, so that you can wake up on time to go to RJC tomorrow and reach there by 7plus pm. If you haven't bought tickets (which obviously you should have already done by now!) then just buy over the counter at the door. Oh! Don't come alone! Bring your entire family and all your friends too! The more the merrier! We are showing a family show anyway. So bring spare cash, so you can freely spend on tickets. Also, not to worry, we are preparing special prayer rooms for you. Don't have to ambil wuduk from home, there are washing areas nearby. Also, this show won't end extremely late, by ten it's all over hopefully, and you can all go to Adam Road by either 156, 93 or 157 and have a family supper! Woah how exciting. DWIDARMA

DWIDARMA, an RJC MLDCS Drama Production. Scheduled to be held on the 3rd of June, a glorious Friday, at RJC's brand-new Performing Arts Centre. A doublebill of 2 plays, Tamu Di Bukit Kenny (a political satire on Malays) and Mayat (an interesting comedy about 4 friends and what to do with a dead body). Produced entirely by students, with the help and guidance of our teacher mentor, Cg Fadilah. Tickets are only at $7 (a bargain, really, for 2 plays). We lost the semis to MJ by a single goal that came like 5 mins from time. Oh well. So sad rite? So disappointing. Actually noone would have thought we could make it this far. I myself wouldn't have imagined that we could even reach the semis. Most of the teachers and our own schoolmates have always put us down, never treating us seriously, and always hoping that our season would end quickly so that we can quickly improve on our grades. Noone raelly cares anyway. I feel quite happy to disprove others. Like Terence, my rugby friends who's in OCS now, he was really quite shocked to hear soccer reached semis this year. We've lost the semis, but there is still hope. For the future I hope. Yes. The J1s must ensure that our run tis year is not a fluke. Ahhhhhh...tmr 3rd 4th place.

Soccer A Division 2005 (part 2)

Quarter finals: Our group consisted of NJC, SAJC and TPJC. All matches were played at SA.

First match: RJC 3-1 NJC
First match of the second round, so clearly we were excited. But we felt confident of our own ability. It was a difficult match because of the weather interruptions. A good 15 min spell in the first half saw us score all our 3 goals. First was a WeiFan clearance that went straight into NJ's penalty box. Chang Wen was first to react and he scored a wonderful placement to the far corner for his first goal. Then, a Geoffrey through pass down the middle was picked up by Chang Wen who flicked it to Pei Qian. He scored a simple nice goal into the empty net. Then the third was almost a carbon copy of the second. Another Geoffrey ball to the left was picked up by Damian who slid in time to guide the ball into the gaping net. 3-0, a comfortable position none of us imagined we could reach. Then suddenly NJ woke up and a slip up at our right flank saw a sharp cross that eluded everyone but the lurking striker at the far post who shot straight into the top corner. 3-1 and we won our first match in our group (a feat which we never achieved before). SA beat TPJC 3-0 in the other match. I never got to play this match.

Second match: RJC 1-2 SAJC
SA came into the game with a huge reputation for having been a finalist the year before and never conceding a goal in this yr's tournament. This was the first match I start (really unexpected). We found it hard to string passes together because our midfield had to sit deep as their attack was very penetrative. They scored a goal through a corner, when Kaixiang should have collected the ball instead of punching it. Peiqian couldn't mark the No.21 outside the box, who powered a header past the helpless Kaixiang. After halftime, we came back really strong. It was then that we scored. Chang Wen beat a few defenders down the left and passed to Peiqian who turned and shot low and hard. It was 1-1 and game on. However, we just had to give away a free kick in front of our box. No.11 was a real clinical finisher, he planted the ball exquisitely beyond Kaixiang. 2-1 and there was not much time left. NJ beat TPJC (can't remember the score) and so, we were third in the group.

Third match: RJC 6-2 TPJC
We knew destiny was in our hands, as long as we beat TP, we would qualify. We just pinpointed Alfie, TP's No.10, who's a national striker, and marked him as much as possible out of the game. This was I think one of our best matches together. Within 2 minutes, an Adzfar 'corner throw' found PeiQian, who turned and shot into the top corner. 1-0. Then we failed to clear a corner properly and No.10 scored. 1-1. But we were relaxed. Chang Wen scored and after that Damian also scored. 3-1. Peiqian's knee gave way and I came on for him. Within a few minutes, Geoffrey's through ball found Chang Wen who squared it for me. My first time shot was scuffed at the keeper's legs, but I shoulder charged him enough to get the ball back and fired home. 4-1.
Second half was when it became more open because TP just threw in the towel. A superb interplay of passing released Damian down the left and he crossed for Chang Wen to whack the ball home for his third goal of the season. It was not done yet. Another Adzfar 'corner throw' found myself decoying for Chang wen to flick to Geoffrey who volleyed home spectacurly. No.10 Alfie scored a wonderous consolation for TP. But we didn't really care, because for the first time we amassed 6 points in a group, and scored more goals than we could imagine. Then, in an ironic twist, NJC beat SAJC 3-1 to qualify at the expense of SA. And we qualified as group winners.

Soccer A' Div 2005

Soccer 'A' Division 2005 I was never originally in soccer. I was in rugby. There was this time around late March last year when I had to make a decision to choose between rugby and soccer, coz the school doesn't allow people to do 2 sports. I chose rugby and the team won gold. After that season, I just wanted something new, and soccer in a schools nationals tournament is something I never tried before. So I switched and this is how the story goes. The team went to India last yr but I didn't follow because they booked it in advance, before I made the switch. For a whole month during the holidays I didnt train, but immediately when they came back, we had a friendly with SA, when our ass got whooped 5-1. Played a series of friendly matches thereafter. Intensive training this year culminated in the Malaysia trip, when we played against top club sides. Came back and then it's season time. First Round. Our group consisted of VJ, CJ and MI. All matches were played at VJ. First match: RJC 0-4 VJC In the first 15mins or so, we showed we were on par against the defending champions. We matched them tackle for tackle, ball for ball. We even had a few long shots that were narrowly off. There was one contentious offside decision, when they scored. And hit us again shortly after. We came charging in the second half, only for them to score again with a contentious goal (Ref disallowed goal at first for foul on our keeper Kaixiang.) Then they hit us with one more. Opening match gave me a real acid test. First time ever playing in Soccer ADiv. It was still alright, because we showed a good performance still and we knew we were still in it, despite MI winning 2-0 in the other match. Second match: RJC 4-2 CJC This was a match we knew we had to win, because we knew we were stronger. What happened was we didn't expect CJC to be so spirited and playing so well. We scored first, when a Joseph cross was deflected into CJC's own net by their captain. Leading 1-0, we were stunned by CJC's determination. They quickly pulled a goal back thru a major defensive lapse down our left. Joel got cut and deflected a CJ cross into goal. Again I started the match from the bench. Then, we knew we had to up our game in the second half. But what happened was just after I got subbed in for Chun Yat I think, Ashley from CJC scored a goal because our defence couldn't clear the ball far enough. Then really it was die-die must score. Geoffrey won the ball in our half and cleared well into their half, I ran for it and slotted away from the 'keeper. Equaliser, what a relief. Then, Soo Tet was taking on two defenders on the left. He cut inside and chipped over the defence. I followed thru and chipped over the on-rushing keeper, who collided with his own last man. 3-2 and we are in the lead. There was a Zhi Hao through ball a few minutes later, for me down the left channel. It was one-on-one so I used the outside of my foot to place it to the far corner, only to see the ball bounce off the post. Could have been home and dry already, coz then CJC almost scored only for Kaixiang to deny them with a fine save. Then, Geoffrey managed to bring the ball into their zone and thread a through ball in between their defence. I pounced and placed it into the top corner. 4-2 and my hat-trick is complete. Still, coach wasn't satisfied because we let them play too much. But the result was good, it meant we erased MI's goal advantage, because MI also lost to VJC 4-0. This was my game of the season. Third match: RJC 0-0 MI This was a game which saw a marked improvement in our defence. We played really well and tried our best to contain their best player, No.12. There were some chances but missed. I picked up a yellow card the moment I stepped on the pitch, for what the ref said as a challenge from behind. I still don't understand. Anyway, the result meant that we go thru as group runner-up behind VJC. MI and CJC (CJ held VJ reserves to a 1-1 draw.) exit the competition. We qualified by the skin of our teeth because our goals scored is better than MI's by 2 goals. Come to think of it, it was due to the CJC game that got us through. Yup. :)
